Mountain Gateway School of Missions

"All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work." 2 Timothy 3:16,17
"At the Mountain Gateway School of Missions, the intention is never to just grow in academics, but to grow in the true knowledge of God. Even though there are instructors, thankfully, the Holy Spirit is the true teacher of the things of God.  Knowing the original languages can give you an edge on nuances and deeper meanings of the words and grammar in its original form that may be absent from other languages when translated. Of course, we do this to help us bring Glory to God, help others to walk with our Lord, AND never to act like we are brainy or a know it all."
~ Kim Hancock Swafford, M.A. in Biblical Studies, M.Div., Academic Dean and Instructor at Mountain Gateway School of Missions

Self contained courses leading to multiple Certificates are available, as well as Bachelors, Masters and Doctoral studies through our affiliation with the Christian Life Educators Network.

Britt Hancock, Chancellor

Britt grew up out in the country, north of Birmingham, Alabama.  He wandered in the woods around his home and talked with God.  He's always wanted to be God's friend.

In 1984 Britt went to Auburn University to study Wildlife Biology.  It is there that he met his wife, Audrey.  They married in 1988 and began ministry while at Auburn.

They've lived in Alabama, Colorado, Texas, Paraguay, Guatemala, and Mexico.

Throughout his ministry, Britt has emphasized that relationship with God is not found in books.  Too many people try to get a degree in knowing God; that is impossible.  He is an avid learner and wants to encourage others to be lifelong learners as well, as long as they understand that information about our Lord can never replace intimacy with Him.

Kim Hancock Swafford, Academic Dean, Instructor

Kim is Britt's older sister.  It was she who prayed for him to get saved when he was little.  Kim went to Auburn University and got a degree in Family and Child Development.  She then served 2 years as a missionary with Teen Challenge in Belgium, Germany, and England.

After she returned home, she met Dale Swafford and married him in 1982.  They have two married sons and two grandchildren.

When her youngest son went to college she decided to continue her education and got her Masters of Divinity from Beacon University.  In 2011 Kim and Dale moved to Austin, Texas, to be the administrator for Mountain Gateway and to be a part of ONEchapel, where she is currently a teacher for ONEchapel College.

Kim's faith is as simple as her smile.  She is a brilliant communicator because she shows that knowing God is not difficult.  Her heart is to help others to know and love the Lord and His word.

Audrey Williams Hancock, Instructor

When Audrey was 3 years old she said, "I want Jesus," and that has been her heart's cry ever since. She has a simple faith that is profound.  Deep, but not complicated.  She believes that anyone can know Jesus, regardless of their background, and loves to introduce people to Him.
She got a bachelor's degree in elementary education from Auburn University in 1989.  Audrey has a love to teach and make difficult ideas understandable.  She has spent 18 years homeschooling their four children.  Her deep desire is that her eyes and smile will shine of Jesus and that her life would "so shine before men that they would see her good works and glorify the Father in heaven." (Matthew 5:16)
