MARCUS AND DENISE HARTWIG


From the beginning, it was clear that God was calling Denise and Marcus into something unique. Marcus was raised in rural Oregon. Denise, born to a Swiss father and Chinese mother, grew up all around the world. Marcus and Denise started their marriage in early January, 2020.

Marcus joined Mountain Gateway in 2015. He has worked at length in Mexico and Nicaragua. Committed to establishing Jesus’ kingdom in a multiplicity of environments, Marcus has a remarkable ability to be flexible and adaptable to wherever God has brought him; being fully content in all circumstances. If it is the cityscape of New York, a Mexican village, or the coast of Nicaragua, Marcus is ready to engage and put his hands to work.
Denise has dedicated over eight years of her life to NYC. Her heart for people has never wavered and she has seen the gospel take root in the lives of nearly every people group that is represented in that city. Focused on discipleship and life-on-life connections, Denise’s heart longs to see Jesus’ redemptive story flood the daily lives of others. Rooted in her daughterhood, Denise has used her position as a classical composer to bring healing and life to those around her through her music and work.

Together, Denise and Marcus see the world as touchable. They have been called by God to disciple and empower the body of Christ - bringing everyone from where they are to where God wants them to be.
