JOSIAH DONATTO

I grew up in North Carolina in a family rooted in missions. After months of wrestling with the question, “how do I know I am saved?” I met Jesus when my dad walked me through scriptures outlining the forgiveness of sins through Christ. Throughout that process, I became aware of the Holy Spirit, who bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God. Following one of these conversations, the peace of God set in as I slept, and I had an assurance that my eternity was not in my own hands but in the hands of Jesus.
Serving on the mission field with my family, ministry was a constant topic of conversation in our home and in our hearts. But it has become more than just my family’s calling - I have heard the Lord call me to the mission field myself, so I joined Mountain Gateway as a full-time missionary in 2022. It’s my desire to fulfill the Great Commission through God’s grace, and I want to use worship to lay the foundation of a Christ-centered life in the hearts of all people. There was no pressure or requirement from my family to go, but simply a mandate from God, relayed through a vision, to fulfill what Jesus asks of us in Matthew.
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (Matthew 28:19-20)
There’s never a moment when the Lord is far, and I enjoy finding moments with the Lord anytime and any place I can. As I’m beginning this journey, I’m not sure where it will lead, but I look forward to seeing how God works it all out. I will be ministering alongside my family in Mexico as a missionary in rural communities. I will be accomplishing Mountain Gateway Missions’ commitment to search for the lost, disciple people one by one, and equip them to disciple others, until the Kingdom of God is established in their families, communities, and nation.
