LAKEISHA STORY
I grew up in the outskirts of a military town in NC. I didn’t know about Jesus until I was 13, when a friend invited me to her church.
I met Jesus in the middle of the night, alone in my bedroom, after asking Him to show me if He was real. Though I didn’t understand everything, I understood the peace and joy the Lord gave me. It was searching for that peace and joy that led me to my local church, where I gave my life fully to Jesus. I began to learn to hear the voice of God, to follow Jesus, and obey the leading of the Holy Spirit in everything I do. The Lord showed His purpose for me in steps, leading me to switch from serving as a trumpeter in worship to teaching children’s church on Sundays. The Lord gave me a love for seeing children and their families learn about Him, and their identity and authority in Him. I got to take part in seeing the Lord transform children who came from harsh backgrounds into children who knew they were loved by God. While praying about sending people to go help impoverished and orphaned children in other countries, He confirmed His call for me to go to the nations by answering, “I send you!” |
My heart is to go all over the world, finding the ones that have slipped through the cracks, bringing the invitation to know Jesus to all so that His “house will be full”.
“‘Sir,’ the servant said, ‘what you ordered has been done, but there is still room.’ Then the master told his servant, ‘Go out to the roads and country lanes and compel them to come in, so that my house will be full.” Luke 14:22-23
