MATT ADKINS
I grew up with a loving family and church in Brownsburg, IN. We moved to a small house in Fayetteville, NC, when I was 13, and that is where I encountered God for the first time. He showed me His purpose for my life through a series of visions. With each vision, I gathered more of what my calling truly was, and at first I didn’t want follow Him out of fear. So I joined the Navy, thinking that would be best for me, but a couple of months before departing from home the Lord impressed His plans on me yet again. I decided that despite the many hardships I would face, I needed to follow His path for my life. I left the Navy and began to seek God for the exact step He wanted me to take.
For months I looked for an answer on where I should go next, and one day at church I saw a video from Mountain Gateway. It was like a divine light bulb lit up as I felt God lay out my path in missions. I knew He was calling me to bring the Gospel to the nations. Starting God’s call on my life hasn’t been easy. If I’m being honest, at times I have questioned if He was really with me; but in those times the Lord showed me how to be strong in faith and to have unwavering obedience. |
The only reason I’m here is because of God; every breath I take is one that He has given to me. It only makes sense to give my life for Him and follow His call for me. It’s as if nothing else matters; no other path I could take would give me the same sense of purpose and humility as the one that God has placed before me.
