SIDNEI KNIGHT
I’m Sidnei, and I grew up in Fayetteville, North Carolina. I graduated from Reid Ross Classical High in 2018 with honors in the arts. During my senior year of high school, I felt myself much more drawn to the Mountain Gateway application instead of college applications, even though a college degree had always been my goal. It took a lot of faith to believe that God knew what He was doing in my life. I was scared in every way possible when I signed up to be a missionary. It was way out of my comfort zone and I just didn't know if I could do it. Comfort is something that has to be lost in order to live in obedience. I had to believe that only God could qualify me to do everything I did not feel qualified to do. I got accepted and met the majority of the team later that month. They were open and super welcoming and I immediately felt like I was with family. Their hearts were pure and I felt such a comfort being among them. I also saw how close they were; they have lived life together.

I had the opportunity to visit Mountain Gateway’s work in Mexico and experience what it was like to be a missionary. I absolutely loved it, and to this day the people are still gripping my heart. God was constantly with me and reminding me that this is where I am supposed to be. While I was there, the way the people worshiped spoke to me, and I felt their hearts for God like never before. It was purely from their hearts. Later God showed me a vision of myself leading worship in English and Spanish. I believe a part of God’s purpose for my life is to be a songwriter, and I want to take this purpose to the nations. I'm here in obedience to say yes.
