2021 REPORT

12/28/2021

IN 2021, YOU MADE AN IMPACT IN THE NATIONS

We couldn't have done it without you. Thank you for your prayers and your financial support.
People all over the world have no access to the life-changing hope of Jesus, leaving them trapped in their pain and brokenness. “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few.” Jesus’ words still ring true today. Addiction, abuse, human trafficking, and poverty are just some of the physical afflictions that represent the spiritual destitution of those without access to the gospel. That is why we exist - because we believe that no one should live without hope in Jesus. In 2021, you enabled us to touch the lives of the hurting.

Thank you for trusting us to be your hands and feet to the broken.

MOUNTAIN GATEWAY MISSIONS

Picture
We can’t even begin to put into words how blessed we are at what Jesus did in Mexico and Nicaragua this year. The effects of a pandemic have continued to impact our “normal” ways of ministering, but we have seen the radical hand of God at work in spite of all obstacles. We work in very rural areas, often without internet access, serving impoverished communities. International travel restrictions have limited our ability to spend as much time as we would like outside of the US, but the leadership that has been demonstrated by our Mexican and Nicaraguan pastors has us in tears. Our mission is to search for the lost, discipling people one by one and equipping them to disciple others, until the Kingdom of God is established in their families, communities, and nation. We are seeing that happen. The Lord has done great things in the hearts of believers, and we have seen an increase in His miraculous power!

MEXICO

We have an active ministry presence in 19 communities in Mexico. The national leaders are growing, maturing, and taking on responsibility to see the Gospel advance in their nation. Our leaders are now raising up leaders!

  • 42 people gave their lives to Jesus
  • 37 people declared faith in Jesus through baptism
  • 1 wedding (a major victory in a nation where common law marriages are the norm.)
  • 2 new Mexican leaders with a burning passion to share the Gospel were led to the Lord, discipled, and equipped by our national pastors.
  • Families in the community who are meeting Jesus are publicly burning their idols, an act that takes enormous courage
  • Provided relief after CAT 3 Hurricane Grace hit Mexico in August.
    • Scouted the villages for damage
    • Helped our national pastors repair damage to their homes
    • Provided initial relief to the believers in our congregation
    • Rented a warehouse, bought, packaged, and distributed food to 130 families

We saw an incredible outpouring of the miraculous power of God in Mexico:
  • A paralyzed man walking
  • A woman’s back instantly healed
  • A woman healed of open sores
  • People healed of COVID
  • A lame woman beginning to walk
  • A woman afflicted by demons set free
  • A man who went into convulsions, paralysis, and “went to sleep” for 40 hours was healed
  • A woman miraculously walked away from a terrible fall with no injuries
  • A woman healed of severe anemia, diabetes, and gallbladder problems.

THE VILLAGE GLOBAL
Our missionaries, Jason and Nicole Fitzpatrick,  who pioneered The Village Global sent us this report:

  • Over 120 people gave their lives to Jesus
  • 45 children rescued
  • 8 children reinstated to safe family members
  • 12 children placed into foster and adoption with incredible families
  • Bought 4 more vehicles for Village Children's Home and Village Rehab Center
  • Covered school tuition for the Village children
  • Gave education scholarships to over 200 impoverished children
  • Built new dorms and a kitchen/cafeteria at the Village Rehab Center
  • Built 3 homes for families who lived in abject poverty.
  • Over 93 men and boys graduated from the Village Rehab Center.
  • Helped cover the national missionaries’ costs who continue to make disciples in a total of 6 states where 8 churches were established this year.
  • The Bible College continues to train national missionaries who are reaching the lost in their own culture.
  • 40 widows a month are receiving care
  • 30 people were baptized
  • 5 couples were married

NICARAGUA
In Nicaragua, we have an active ministry presence in 8 counties in 6 states. Our national pastor and his discipleship team traveled through the communities to encourage the believers. Discipleship groups are growing and the believers are loving on, celebrating, and supporting one another in the faith.

  • Around 30 people gave their lives to Jesus
  • 5 new villages opened
  • Held a Bible School on the importance of baptism
  • 5 believers baptized
  • 5 new villages were opened to the Gospel
  • Bible School for pastors in the villages, equipping them to disciple in the surrounding communities
  • Our first Nicaraguan missionary is about to move to a new area to make disciples.
  • 1 wedding for our Nicaraguan missionaries (A major victory in Nicaragua also.)
  • The Nicaraguan government conducted an audit of our organization and we passed with flying colors

We saw an incredible outpouring of the miraculous power of God in Nicaragua as well:
  • 2 women healed of blindness
  • A woman healed of infertility
  • A lame woman walking
  • A dead boy raised to life
  • Our team supernaturally rescued from violent men
  • Multiple people healed of COVID
  • A witchdoctor saved and set free

Through your giving, we were able to purchase much needed equipment for distributing relief packets to those still devastated from 2020 Hurricanes Eta and Iota, as well as transport our national pastors and discipleship teams. We were also able to build a worship auditorium that will host church services, Bible Schools, children’s programs, and other ministry events.

  • Boat (Motor Yamaha 200) for discipleship and distribution of donations
  • Truck for getting to Nueva Segovia to disciple
  • Land Cruiser 2015 for getting to rural communities to disciple
  • 2022 Toyota Hiace Microbus = a 16 passenger van for transporting our national pastors and their team as they disciple across Nicaragua
  • A 24 x 52 square foot Worship Auditorium

MOUNTAIN GATEWAY TRAINING

Picture
MOUNTAIN GATEWAY ACADEMY
Answering Jesus’ call to carry the cross is difficult and it can be hard to actually know how to put the Great Commission into practice. But we know that to see the lost come to know Jesus, we must embrace not only the joy of the Gospel but also the call to die to ourselves. The Mountain Gateway Academy is an 11 month program that equips students with the tools they need to succeed anywhere in the world, under any conditions. This is how we train missionaries - although you don’t have to be called to be a missionary to go through the program. After 11 months with our instructors, those who feel called to go into all the world will start the MG Mission Track. We are committed to giving each student the opportunity to engage with Jesus in such a way that He transforms them.
  • Cohort 19 finished out their training at the end of 2020 and have transitioned into the next step in their callings - one into marketplace ministry with Mountain Gateway and one into full time ministry.
  • We are building a 118’ x 67’ student lodge at our ministry headquarters.
  • We have 10 students arriving in Dripping Springs, TX, on January 5th. We are filled with excitement over what the Lord will do in them during the next 11 months as they gain the practical and spiritual tools needed to persevere long enough to see God do the extraordinary.

MOUNTAIN GATEWAY WILDERNESS INTENSIVES

We took 3 teams on MG Wilderness Intensives during July and August. A Wilderness Intensive is 12 days of backpacking in the wilderness to focus on personal and spiritual development so teams learn the leadership and relational skills they need to be more effective and fulfilled.

Here are some testimonials from those trips:
The Lord spoke much through my instructors and some of my [fellow] students. I was encouraged early on in the value of my voice and that I should use it more. Over the week I got to practice this and speak up more. I started to really realize that the Lord gave me my voice and that I am able to contribute. This has been growth for me, that I will endeavor to hold on to. Thank you all! - Steve

I left on this trip with a desire to push myself physically, mentally and see beautiful scenery and I came home with all that but more importantly a new relationship with the Lord. Thank you Mountain Gateway for an unforgettable experience and opportunity to grow beyond our liminality and window of tolerance. - Mike

MOUNTAIN GATEWAY PRAYER

Picture
We launched Mountain Gateway Prayer last year, and we are thrilled at the engagement we have received from you guys. Prayer is one of the most important things believers can give to the Gospel effort. Missionaries who do not receive prayer support from the home-front are 71% more likely to leave the field. This should give us the courage to know that prayer works! Disappointments and unanswered questions are a part of life - but you really can see hearts awakened to the Gospel and missionaries stay on the field in response to your prayers. Something happens when you pray that wouldn’t have happened if you didn’t. Because if you remain undaunted in prayer in spite of life’s disappointments, you can see the hand of God move on the earth.
  • We have built a prayer base of over 200 people weekly engaging in prayer for what is happening in MG.
  • Through our Monday prayer calls, prayer partners are connecting with staff and missionaries.
  • Knowing they have people intentionally praying for them every week has given our staff and missionaries a greater sense of strength and confidence.
  • It has fueled a hunger and plan to establish more intentional prayer amongst the leaders in Mexico.
  • A leader in Nicaragua has been holding prayer calls at 5 a.m.
  • After sending out a call for prayer for different needs, we have seen immediate results of healings and miracles! Praise God!

VERTICAL BRIDGE WORKS

Picture
For generations, the reality of missionaries leaving the field because of the lack of funds has hindered the spread of the Gospel. Two thousand years after Jesus gave us the Great Commission, 7,372 people groups still haven’t heard the Good News.  Missionaries can’t handle the expense, and native pastors are unable to carry on the ministry in the clutches of poverty. That is why Mountain Gateway dreams of using business to advance the Gospel in the nations. It is why we launched EDG Coffee.

Owning our own farm lets us:
  • Develop personal relationships with our farmers
  • Pay our farmers 48% above the national minimum wage
  • Provide pure water and daily meals
  • Weekly Bible Studies on the farm
Our coffee:
  • Single origin, specialty grade Arabica coffee
  • Grown at 4,600 feet
  • Small-batch roasted in-house
  • Sealable packaging with a degassing valve
  • Ranks in the top 3% in the world
Our farm:
  • Our farm is solar powered
  • Use only non-toxic products on the coffee trees
  • Recycle water from our own mountain springs
  • Compostable and biodegradable bags
Our impact:
  • Supports farmworkers, national pastors, and missionaries in Nicaragua and Mexico.
  • Help impoverished churches and communities in developing countries
  • Gives missionaries access to communities that would otherwise be closed to the Gospel.
  • Fund the Gospel and bless the Nicaraguan economy
  • Operating business with kingdom principles of honor and integrity

Major wins in 2021:
  • Doubling annually in every sales channel: online, coffee trailer, wholesale, and farmers markets.
  • 2 new roast profiles bring us to a total of 6 roast profiles from a single origin
  • Launched the EDG Coffee Trailer in Austin, TX.
  • The farm, Finca Esperanza de Gloria in Nicaragua is thriving.
    • We had an incredible harvest of 42,000 lbs 35,517 lbs of which is specialty grade, scoring even higher in quality than last year.
    • Our trees are extremely healthy - we expect a 50% increase in beans harvested.
  • Launching a Day Care Project for the children of our coffee harvesters. We will care for 10 children ages 2-6 for the duration of the coffee harvest.
  • Built a larger holding tank for the coffee cherries which will greatly increase the efficiency of the de-pulping process.
  • Took our farmers to visit one of Nicaragua’s ecological sites - “Volcan Masaya”
  • Donated 24 beds to our farmers
  • Gave back-to-school kits to 65 children
  • Participating in a project to build 5.2 kilometers of new road for 2 communities.
    • Not only will this bless those communities with access to transportation, but it will give MG Nicaragua the opportunity to preach the gospel and make disciples in those communities. By building a road, EDG Coffee is opening hearts to receive the Good News of Jesus!

THANK YOU FOR YOUR PRAYERS AND FINANCIAL SUPPORT

People you have never met will meet Jesus because you enabled us to go.
Jesus traveled through all the towns and villages of that area, teaching in the synagogues and announcing the Good News about the Kingdom. And he healed every kind of disease and illness. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them because they were confused and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. He said to his disciples, “The harvest is great, but the workers are few. So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send more workers into his fields.” Matt 9:35-38 NLT
