MIRACLES PART 1: The blind receive their sight

Jesus is alive. He is the same, yesterday, today, and forever. And we have been reminded lately of His power - to heal, to transform, to save.   So we are going to be sending out a series of short miracle stories. Some of them are old stories (Isaiah 46:9), some of them are new stories (Lam 3:22-23). All of them display the unchanging power of Jesus at work in our lives.

Today, we are sharing a new story from one of our Nicaraguan pastors:
I was visiting the mother of my sister Naomi, who was suffering from blindness. Her eye was completely red and had been streaming with blood. For about a month, we went to her house to pray. During that time, I saw Naomi’s suffering with my own eyes; saw the worry of her mother.

I was at their house, preparing to preach. But God spoke to my heart and told me to talk about the story of the woman who had the issue of blood for 12 years instead. The mother was weeping, telling me that she had spent all of their money on doctors, with no improvement in Naomi’s condition. In fact, even though she was taking medication, her eye was getting worse. “We have done everything they said, but it doesn’t help. They can’t do anything,” she said with tears streaming down her face.

“Let’s study the word,” I said. “And after that, we will pray and anoint Naomi’s eyes with oil.” As I read, the mother smiled through her tears. I kept the message short and to the point. We spent most of our time praying for Naomi. The mom was crying, we said, “We know that You are able to heal, Lord. And we will not be ashamed to tell those that ask how she was healed that it was You who healed her!”

I went back a week later. When I saw Naomi, I was amazed at the change!! Her eye was completely healed! The eye that had been full of blood was completely whole! Praise God!

When I visited her on Wednesday, she told me how she has been testifying to many others that God healed her. Including the doctor! The doctor asked, “We know that the medications that we put her on were not controlling the bleeding - what did you do to fix this?” Naomi’s mother simply said, “It was God. He did a miracle.”

I’ve been so impacted by this. I had never seen such a miracle before. And now we are discipling them, so that they don't only live in a miracle, but that they live in a relationship with Christ.

Circumstances change - Jesus stays the same. He really is alive.

Life and peace,

The blind receive sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosy are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is proclaimed to the poor. Matt 11:5
